Easy Homemade Chicken Nuggets (Oven & Air Fryer Recipe)

Easy Homemade Chicken Nuggets

These crispy homemade chicken nuggets are made with chicken mince, a touch of mustard, and plenty of flavour. Easy to make in the oven or air fryer!

Ingredients

For the nuggets

  • 500g chicken mince
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • Seasonings of choice (e.g. onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper)

For the coating

  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Seasonings of choice (e.g. paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper)
  • 2 eggs, whisked

Method

  1. Mix the chicken base: In a bowl, combine chicken mince, mustard, salt, pepper, and your seasonings of choice. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the nuggets: With slightly wet hands (to prevent sticking), form the mixture into nugget-sized shapes. Place the nuggets on a tray and freeze for about 20 minutes to help them hold their shape.
  3. Prepare the coating: In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and any other seasonings you like. In another bowl, whisk the eggs to make an egg wash.
  4. Coat the nuggets: Remove nuggets from the freezer. Dip each one into the egg wash, then into the seasoned flour mixture, coating well.
  5. Cook: Spray coated nuggets lightly with oil, then cook using one of the following methods:
  • Oven: Bake at 220°C (fan-forced) for 16–22 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.
  • Air Fryer: Cook at 200°C for 15–17 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.

Serve and enjoy!
