Easy Homemade Chicken Nuggets
These crispy homemade chicken nuggets are made with chicken mince, a touch of mustard, and plenty of flavour. Easy to make in the oven or air fryer!

Ingredients
For the nuggets
- 500g chicken mince
- 1 tbsp mustard
- Seasonings of choice (e.g. onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper)
For the coating
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Seasonings of choice (e.g. paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper)
- 2 eggs, whisked
Method
-
Mix the chicken base: In a bowl, combine chicken mince, mustard, salt, pepper, and your seasonings of choice. Mix until well combined.
-
Shape the nuggets: With slightly wet hands (to prevent sticking), form the mixture into nugget-sized shapes. Place the nuggets on a tray and freeze for about 20 minutes to help them hold their shape.
-
Prepare the coating: In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and any other seasonings you like. In another bowl, whisk the eggs to make an egg wash.
-
Coat the nuggets: Remove nuggets from the freezer. Dip each one into the egg wash, then into the seasoned flour mixture, coating well.
-
Cook: Spray coated nuggets lightly with oil, then cook using one of the following methods:
-
Oven: Bake at 220°C (fan-forced) for 16–22 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.
-
Air Fryer: Cook at 200°C for 15–17 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.
Serve and enjoy!
